ہر وقت تصور میں مدینے کی گلی ہو
اور یادِ محمد ﷺ کی مرے دل میں بسی ہو
اے کاش میں بن جاؤں مدینے کا مسافر
پھر روتی ہوئی طیبہ کو برات چلی ہو
اے کاش مدینے میں مجھے موت یوں آئے
قدموں میں تیرے ﷺ سر ہو، مری روح چلی ہو
آقا ﷺ کا گدا ہوں، اے جہنم تو بھی سن لے
وہ کیسے جلے جو کہ غلامِ مدنی ﷺ ہو
آقا ﷺ کی شفاعت سے تو جنت ہی ملے گی
اے کاش کہ قدموں میں جگہ اُن ﷺ کے ملی ہو
عطار ہمارا ہے سرِ حشر اسے کاش
دستِ شہِ بطحا ﷺ سے یہی چِھٹھی ملی ہو

Har waqt tasawwur mein Madine ki gali ho,
Aur yaad-e-Muhammad ki mere dil mein basi ho.
Aye kaash main ban jaaun Madine ka musafir,
Phir roti hui Taiba ko baraat chali ho.
Aye kaash Madine mein mujhe maut yun aaye,
Qadmon mein tere sar ho, meri rooh chali ho.
Aaqa ka gada hoon, aye jahannum tu bhi sun le,
Woh kaise jale jo ke ghulaam-e-Madani ho.
Aaqa ki shafaat se to jannat hi mile gi,
Aye kaash ke qadmon mein jagah un ke mili ho.
Attar hamara hai sar-e-hashr use kaash,
Dast-e-Shah-e-Batha se yehi chitthi mili ho.
English Translation
May the streets of Madinah dwell in my imagination at every moment, and may the remembrance of Muhammad (peace be upon him) reside in my heart.
Would that I could become a traveller to Madinah, and that a wedding procession might set off to a tearful Taiba.
Would that death come to me in Madinah in such a way that my head rests at your feet as my soul departs.
I am a beggar of the Master; O Hellfire, hear this too – how could one burn who is a slave of the Madani Prophet?
Through the Master’s intercession, Paradise itself will be granted; would that a place at his blessed feet be mine.
Attar is ours; would that, on the Day of Gathering, he receive this very letter from the hand of the King of Batha (the Holy Prophet).
