About This Manqabat

This kalaam remembers Hazrat Qasim ibn Hasan (a.s.), the young nephew of Imam Hussain (a.s.), and the tradition of his sehra – the wedding song – recalled in the days of Karbala. Written by Shahid Abbas Shahid, it beautifully interweaves the joy of a wedding with the sorrow of Karbala: Jibreel carrying the sehra from the heavens, Imam Hussain tying the groom’s turban, and the ladies of the Ahlul Bayt adorning Qasim. It is lovingly recited in majalis and gatherings during Muharram, keeping alive the memory of the household of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family).
