Hum Se Pucha Ki Kya Zaroori Hai Lyrics in English (Roman)
Hum se poocha ke kya zaroori hai,
Keh diya Murtaza zaroori hai,
Hum se poocha ke kya zaroori hai.
Bole Maisam zabaan rahe na rahe,
Ya Ali ki sada zaroori hai,
Hum se poocha ke kya zaroori hai.
Hum ko Maula ki ho gayi ziyarat,
Qabr mein aur kya zaroori hai,
Hum se poocha ke kya zaroori hai.
Bhejne ko zameen par Abbas,
Fatima ki dua zaroori hai,
Hum se poocha ke kya zaroori hai.
Shams laazim hai aise zikr-e-Ali,
Jaise aab-o-hawa zaroori hai,
Hum se poocha ke kya zaroori hai.
English Translation
We were asked: what is truly necessary? We answered: Murtaza (Ali) is necessary.
Maisam said: whether the tongue remains or not, the call of Ya Ali is necessary.
We have been blessed with the sight of the Maula; what more could be necessary even in the grave?
To send Abbas down to the earth, the prayer of Fatima was necessary.
O Shams, the remembrance of Ali is as essential as the air we breathe and the water we drink.
About This Manqabat
Hum Se Pucha Ki Kya Zaroori Hai is a heartfelt manqabat in praise of Imam Ali (a.s.), declaring that the love and remembrance of the Maula is as vital as life itself. The second verse recalls Maisam al-Tammar, the devoted companion of Imam Ali who continued to call out in his praise even as his life was taken. The poet signs the kalaam with the pen name Shams.
